Ahlbeck

The most famous building on the island of Usedom and at the same time the symbol of the seaside resort of Ahlbeck is the time-honoured Ahlbeck pier. Built in 1898 as an open platform with four little corner towers, the building did not get its present closed appearance until 1952. It is the only surviving historic pier on the German Baltic Sea coast. A good half a century before the pier was built, the history of the seaside resort in Ahlbeck began with the construction of the first boarding houses. Many villas in the spa architecture style with wooden verandas followed later. In addition to imposing stone buildings, wooden villas with playful details were also built. A walk through the Goethe, Bismarck, Kaiser or Kurstrasse with their beautiful villas brings the founding years of the seaside resort to life. The Ostsee-Therme Usedom, on the other hand, is modern. It enables relaxing hours all year round, either splashing around in the bathing paradise, relaxing in the sauna world or doing sports in the health studio.
