Water & Beach

Imperial Beach Pleasures.

Our Beaches

Kilometers of fine, white beach sand—that is and always will be the most appealing and enticing draw. The beach constantly tempts people to indulge in idleness. It lies lazily in the glistening sun, and the occasional visitor follows suit—whether lounging in a windless beach chair or stretched out on the warm, soft seashore. While the stately backdrop of the seaside villas unfolds behind them, the endless expanse of the Baltic Sea stretches out before them. As far as the eye can see. All the way to the horizon. They say it is a capricious lover. Sometimes crowned with white crests, sometimes smooth and polished in the hot sun, sometimes whipped by a stiff breeze, sometimes frozen by the icy weather.

Yet nothing is as constant as the sea, with its deep blue, the sound of its waves, and its distant view. Who wouldn’t want to snag a front-row seat there?

It’s the twilight of morning, when nothing and no one breaks the silence.
It’s the scent of sunscreen that always hangs in the air.
It’s the cries of the seagulls as they soar in circles on the breeze.
These are days of sky-blue skies, when castles grace the water’s edge.
It is the golden light reflecting off the facades.
It is the harshness of winter, when the piers in the Baltic Sea freeze solid.
It is the laughter of children as kites battle with their strings.
It is the familiarity of the sound as the waves crash against the shore.
It is the all-encompassing sea that gives us unforgettable moments.

Our beaches are...

Endless

Endless

Just under twelve of the 42 kilometers of sandy beach belong to the Kaiserbäder. Whether you’re wearing a swimsuit or not, using a wheelchair, bringing a dog, or riding a board: the beaches of the Kaiserbäder—from the border beach in Ahlbeck to the cliffs in Bansin—offer the perfect beach for every type of visitor.

Sure

Sure

Every summer, German Red Cross (DRK) lifeguards keep watch over the beach from their 12 lifeguard towers. If the red-and-yellow flag is flying, the tower is staffed. If a red flag is also flying, swimming is generally prohibited. A yellow flag indicates that inexperienced swimmers are not allowed to swim.

Sustainable

Sustainable

Whether it’s Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf, or Bansin—the Blue Flag has been flying on the beaches of the Kaiserbäder for years: a seal of approval for good bathing water quality and environmentally conscious measures. The Blue Flag is awarded for one season at a time, so compliance with standards regarding coastal protection, beach management, and environmental education is reviewed anew each year.

A Beach for Every Adventure

Ahlbeck Border Beach

On the border between Germany and Poland lies a stretch of beach that offers not only natural access points but also quiet corners. While swimwear is the norm in one area, nudists and pet owners alike can find their own fine-sand paradise on the border beach between Ahlbeck and Świnoujście.

Ahlbeck Sports Beach

In, on, and around the water—the Kaiserbäder sports beach offers the right activities and classes for beginners and pros alike, and for those seeking either a workout or relaxation: whether it’s spiking volleyballs over the net, enjoying yoga on the beach, or paddling toward the sunrise on a stand-up paddleboard. The sports beach is open every year from late June through early September, and the facilities are available from May through October.

Heringsdorf Event Beach

Watching movies on a screen larger than 40 square meters is a truly impressive experience. With popcorn in one hand and a drink in the other, you can enjoy children’s movies and blockbusters on the Heringsdorf pier during the summer. The events beach hosts public screenings, as well as silent discos, dance classes, pub quizzes, and beach concerts.

Dog-Friendly Beaches

Designated dog beaches in Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf, and Bansin offer plenty of space for your dog to run around, swim, and relax with you by the Baltic Sea. Find out where the dog beaches are located and what you need to know about beaches, leash regulations, and seasonal times for a relaxing vacation with your dog on Usedom.

Bansin Cliffs

On the cliffs, it’s not just the waves of the Baltic Sea that constantly crash against the shore—the crowns of the beech trees on the Langer Berg do too. Arguably the most unspoiled beach in the Kaiserbäder, it offers sections for nudists and dog owners alike, as well as a breathtaking view of the endless sea. A walk along the Long Mountain’s cliff-top trail is well worth the effort and rewards you with breathtaking views from a height of 54 meters.

Our Pier

The piers in Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf, and Bansin are among the most famous landmarks of the Kaiserbäder and offer spectacular views of the Baltic Sea. Discover their eventful history and the unique features of each pier, and set out from here on sightseeing cruises along the island of Usedom and into neighboring Poland.

Fishing Beaches

Traditional fishing boats on the beach, wooden huts behind the dunes, and freshly caught fish straight from the Baltic Sea characterize the fishing beaches in Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf, and Bansin. Discover the vibrant tradition of coastal fishing on Usedom and learn more about the fishermen, their craft, and the journey from fresh catch to fish sandwich.

The Biggest Sandbox

Fine sand, Baltic Sea waves, and plenty of space to play: The 12-kilometer-long sandy beach at the Kaiserbäder is arguably the largest sandbox on Usedom. Here, children build sandcastles and dig trenches, collect seashells, and go on little beach adventures—while the adults enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea. A favorite spot for the whole family, right by the sea.
