Gothen
– A Natural Idyll on Gothensee

Gothen is an idyllic village on Usedom, located just a few minutes from Heringsdorf. A picturesque tree-lined avenue through the Heringsdorf spa and healing forest leads you to this tranquil village, nestled among meadows, fields, and Lake Gothensee. It was here, on the site of a former manor, that the foundation was laid for the spa culture of today’s Kaiserbäder.

Gothensee, which has been protected as a nature reserve on Usedom since 1958, offers a unique experience of nature. With its dense belt of reeds, it provides a valuable habitat for swans, geese, and numerous other waterbirds and invites visitors to take relaxing walks surrounded by nature.

Alt Sallenthin
– A Natural Idyll in Usedom's "Switzerland"

Alt Sallenthin is a tranquil village in “Usedom Switzerland,” nestled between Lake Gothensee and Lake Kleiner Krebssee. Thatched-roof houses, quiet alleys, and unspoiled nature give the village its very special charm and make it a popular destination in the hinterland of the Kaiserbäder. In the village center, the Alt Sallenthin Island Nursery, with its expansive gardens and greenhouses, invites visitors to explore its ever-changing display of blooms throughout the year. The surrounding forest trails wind through the idyllic landscape of “Usedom Switzerland” and offer relaxation in the heart of nature—accompanied by the tapping of woodpeckers, the rustling of leaves, and the calls of native forest birds.

Neu Sallenthin
– Views of seven lakes

Neu Sallenthin nestles picturesquely against the glacial moraine slopes all the way down to the Großer Krebssee. This approximately 200-year-old village is surrounded by three lakes—the Gothensee, the Kleiner Krebssee, and the Großer Krebssee—and offers ideal conditions for experiencing nature and relaxation. A special highlight is the “Sieben Seen-Blick” observation tower. From the platform, which is about 40 meters high, a clear view reveals an impressive panorama of Usedom’s lake landscape all the way to the Achterwasser, the Stettin Lagoon, and the Baltic Sea. It’s a popular destination for hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers.

Sellin
– Thatched-roof houses and nature on Lake Schmollensee

Sellin on Usedom is located not far from Kaiserbad Bansin and is nestled among ancient beech and oak forests. This idyllic village on Lake Schmollensee captivates visitors with its peaceful atmosphere, unspoiled nature, and breathtaking sunsets. Here, time seems to pass more slowly—a perfect place to relax and unwind. Sellin is characterized by its historic thatched-roof fishermen’s cottages, which line the narrow village street and the shores of Lake Schmollensee. From the higher paths, you can enjoy magnificent views of the lake, the meadows, and the surrounding forests. Sellin was first mentioned in a document as early as 1267, making it one of the oldest settlements on Usedom. Lake Schmollensee, teeming with fish, and the large boulders along its shore still serve as a reminder of the island’s glacial origins and make Sellin a special destination for nature and history enthusiasts.

Dorf Bansin
– Where History Meets Nature

The village of Bansin was first mentioned in historical records as early as 1256 and today connects the Kaiserbäder Heringsdorf and Bansin with Neu Sallenthin. This historic village looks back on a long history and forms the transition between the Baltic Sea coast and Usedom’s idyllic inland region. Once upon a time, the area was home mainly to farmers and fishermen. Today, expansive meadows, drainage ditches, and the rural surroundings serve as reminders of that era. A landmark of the village was the historic Dutch windmill, which was destroyed by fire in 2009. The remaining ruins still serve as a reminder of the village’s history.
