Duo Hübner - Schönfelder

With cello and piano between folk, classical and film music, film music composer Falk Schönfelder and cross-border cellist Matthias Hübner combine their respective musical backgrounds to create a sound-intensive dialogue that oscillates between joyful lightness and dreamy profundity.

The duo uses cello and piano in a modern and diverse way. Despite both musicians' classical training, they are both absolute border crossers on their respective instruments. Their program, all original compositions, moves from grand sonic spheres to transcendental moments, remaining rhythmically captivating, playful, and experimental in both composition and performance. Both musicians have been performing in various formations and styles for many years, have released numerous CDs, and are prizewinners in national and international competitions.

Falk Schönfelder He has made a name for himself as a composer of film music for various documentaries (e.g., "Weit"), as a music producer for various plays and film scores, and as a sound engineer for various festivals (e.g., the Usedom Music Festival). As a pianist, he has been active for years in many different bands, ranging from larger rock bands to small chamber music ensembles. In the process, he has developed his own unique sound, which is inherent in his music.

Matthias Hübner is a multiple winner of international songwriting contests and plays between 60 and 100 concerts a year. Over years of intensive concert activity, the artist has created his own unique sound language, inspired by folk music and the energy of rock music, while elaborating on it with a classical concert compositional ethos. What makes his music special is the unique use of the cello. With its captivating sound, it is reminiscent of the human voice. "The musician not only lets it sing, but also sob, scream, grunt, and cry." "Rivetingly funny and full of life, yet moving to tears."
