Wars can shift borders. Literature can overcome boundaries. The book "Bambino" features two main protagonists: the city of Szczecin and a snack bar, the "Bambino."
Four people meet in this snack bar – beginning in war-torn Stettin and continuing into the 1980s. The four didn't come to Stettin of their own volition, but because history made a choice for them by shifting borders. They want to start a new life in devastated Stettin. They want to start a family, they want to go swimming at the seaside, but they don't know anyone here...
However, the four's paths repeatedly cross at "Bambino," where some of them work or simply hang out. Will Stettin give them what they hope for? And will they ever be able to free themselves from the past that haunts them in their dreams?
As part of the German-Polish theater format “via TEATRI,” Arno Zillmer invites the German-Polish writer and journalist Dorota Danielewicz and the Szczecin-based author, literary historian, and critic Inga Iwasiow to talk about their book “Bambino.” 

Arno Zillmer will not only host the evening in the “Chapeau Rouge” theater tent in Heringsdorf on Usedom, but will also provide musical accompaniment. 
The literary evening is also the last event of the German-Polish forum “UNRAST Berlin”, which took place in 2025 during the Polish Presidency of the Council of Europe. 
The evening is supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Warsaw.

Wojny mogą przesuwać granice. Literatura może pokonywać granice. Głównymi bohaterami w książce pt. “Bambino” są: miasto Szczecin i bar Bambino. W barze tym spotyka się, przez okres od lat powojennych do roku 1980, czworo ludzi. Cała czwórka przyjechała do Szczecina never z własnej woli, ale dlatego, że historia tak za za zdecydowała, przesuwając granice. Chcieli zacząć od nowa w zniszczonym wojną Szczecinie. Ścieżki tej czwórki krzyżują się wielokrotnie w barze Bambino, gdzie niektórzy z nich pracują lub po prostu spędzają czas. Czy Szczecin spełni I oczekiwania? I czy w końcu uda im się uwolnić od przeszłości, która nawiedza me sny? W ramach polsko-niemieckiego projektu teatralnego “via TEATRI” Arno Zillmer zaprosił polsko-niemiecką pisarkę and dziennikarkę Dorotę Danielewicz oraz mieszkającą w Szczecinie pisarkę, historyczkę and krytyczkę literature Ingę Iwasiow do rozmowy or jej książce “Bambino”.

Wieczór literacki jest ostatnim wydarzeniem w ramach Festiwalu Forum Niemiecko- Polskiego UNRAST Berlin z okazji Polskiej prezydencji w Radzie Unii Europejskiej w 2025 roku.
