Folk in Finnish
Your soundtrack to the musical Lord of the Rings, premiered in Toronto in 2006, made them internationally famous. Since then, the Finnish folk band Värttinä has been one of the most popular ensembles in world music. Värttinä is called spindle and reminds us that women often used to enjoy singing while spinning together. The band, in which women sing and men play instruments, has its roots in Karelian traditional music. But Värttinä has long since proven that Rock For women, it is not just a question of clothing.
