Ghosts of the Night Forest, Villa Irmgard

In Krzysztof Chomicz's exhibition, we are immersed in an extraordinary, mysterious world of wildlife, where wolves and owls are the main characters – animals that have inspired respect and fascination for centuries. They are forest dwellers who come alive especially after dark. At night, they hunt and roam – but through the photographer's lens, we can also admire them in daylight, revealing other facets of their existence: full of majesty, tranquility, and instinctive alertness.

Chomicz's photographs depict wolves—symbols of strength, freedom, and pristine nature—as well as owls, considered birds of wisdom and nighttime hunters. With extraordinary patience and a keen sense of touch, the author succeeds in capturing their presence both in the silence of the night and in the light of day. Thus, his images are not only documentations, but also artistic testimonies of fleeting moments that often remain hidden from people in everyday life.

These unique images were taken not only on the islands of Wolin, Usedom, and Karsibór, but also in the wider region of West Pomerania – a region full of forests, marshes, and riparian landscapes that provide a natural habitat for these extraordinary animals. Each photograph evokes an atmosphere of mystery, excitement, and the hidden beauty of nature.
